over 5 years ago – Thu, Aug 23, 2018 at 08:00:44 PM

Greetings fellows,

On Tuesday (8/21), the physical copies of The Beasts of Kraggoth Manor arrived here at North Wind Adventures. At once, bookmark insertion and shrink-wrapping began for all preorders. Today (8/23), the physical copies of The Anthropophagi of Xambaala arrived, so bookmark insertion and shrink wrapping for all preorders will begin this evening. Shipping will begin next week. Please be patient during the fulfillment phase, because North Wind Adventures is a small operation that takes great measures to ensure a positive experience for our gaming fellows (you!). All modules are not only shrink-wrapped, but also encased in bubblewrap and boxed. Thank you for your support, and please keep an eye out for our next campaign, likely to launch in October!

Cheers,

The Books Have Been Printed!
over 5 years ago – Fri, Aug 17, 2018 at 11:48:05 PM

Fellows,

I heard back from the printer this morning. The books (The Anthropophagi of Xambaala and The Beasts of Kraggoth Manor) have been printed! They will be ready for pick-up on Monday (8/20) or Tuesday (8/21). We will then insert the bookmarks and begin shrink wrapping. Then, shipping!

In the meantime, here are some photos recently shared at our social media sites. Here you can see the digital print proofs that I approved right before the books went to press.

Books at Printer! PDFs Sending Now!
almost 6 years ago – Mon, Jul 30, 2018 at 07:33:11 PM

Greetings,

I am pleased to announce that the print files for The Anthropophagi of Xambaala and The Beasts of Kraggoth Manor were uploaded to our print partner on Friday morning. Over the weekend, we finalized the PDF versions for each book; the download codes for those are sending now. These two new AS&SH adventures will be for sale to the general public on August 1. If you did not receive your PDF codes from DriveThru, please check your email's junk folder. If you can't find anything there, please go directly to DriveThru and log in. You should see the linked files sitting in your account.

I hope you enjoy the new modules! I will keep in touch over the next few weeks as we get closer to the final phase: fulfillment. As a teaser, I present to you the following video, showcasing a prototype of the Xambaala cover. This was done on a digital press, just to confirm that the folds were aligned correctly. The actual cover will be thicker cover stock with a matte finish. Still, this prototype provides you with a good idea of what to expect.

Spying on Beasts and Cannibals!
almost 6 years ago – Fri, Jul 20, 2018 at 08:03:45 PM

Greetings,

I bring tidings from the hostile wilderness of HYPERBOREA, where seekers have spied the old manor house known as Kraggoth Manor

What those adventure seekers have uncovered I cannot reveal, but I can offer this update regarding the current state of HYPERBOREA: Beasts and Cannibals:

The Beasts of Kraggoth Manor

  • Writing = 100%
  • Editing = 100%
  • Art = 100%
  • Cartography = 100%
  • Layout = 100%

The Anthropophagi of Xambaala

  • Writing = 100%
  • Editing = 100%
  • Art = 100%
  • Cartography = 100%
  • Layout = 98%

Other responsibilities associated with this Kickstarter:

  • Shipping containers (boxes, because we want your books to arrive in great condition) are in stock.
  • Bookmarks (one of our stretch goals, to be inserted in each physical module) are in stock.
  • Kraggoth Manor T-shirts (an add-on that's been pretty darn popular) have been ordered and are scheduled to arrive by August 1.

Today I spoke with our print partner for the modules, because I wanted to make sure our cover file for the Anthropophagi of Xambaala is formatted perfectly for the lovely gatefold cover that it is going to feature. They are reviewing the cover file as I type this update. Meantime, Mr. David Prata is conducting a final inspection of the layout files for The Anthropophagi of Xambaala (hence the 98% layout completion note). David and I are nearly ready to turn over the files for printing, and then it's time for the craziness of fulfillment! :)

But what about PDFs? Yes, right after turning over the print files to our print partner, we will begin to bookmark lower resolution versions of the files. When finished, digital fulfillment of the two adventures will be handled by DriveThru RPG. Speaking of DriveThru, they are having a big "Christmas in July" sale right now. Check it out!

Once again, thank you for supporting North Wind Adventures. I think you're going to love our two new adventures, and we've got so much more in the works! But more on that later.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not repeat the following: This project remains on schedule. I do not expect any delays at this point, but if fulfillment spills into early September, I will let you know.

Cheers,

Beasts and Cannibals Update, and Future Plans!
almost 6 years ago – Fri, Jun 29, 2018 at 07:52:07 PM

Gaming friends,

A quick update on the progress of HYPERBOREA: Beasts and Cannibals. We have made some great strides since the last update, and we've got the wheels in motion for future projects, too!

Here is our current status for the two adventure modules that you pledged your support to:

The Beasts of Kraggoth Manor

  • Writing = 100%
  • Editing = 100%
  • Art = 100%
  • Cartography = 100%
  • Layout = 100%

The Anthropophagi of Xambaala

  • Writing = 100%
  • Editing = 90%
  • Art = 100%
  • Cartography = 100%
  • Layout = 10%

So, as you can see, The Beasts of Kraggoth Manor is ready, and we're finishing up the final editing touch-ups for The Anthropophagi of Xambaala. Once this is complete, it will go to final layout. Once layout for Xambaala is complete, it's off to the printer!

This project remains on schedule for fulfillment in August, as planned. Pretty soon I'll be pulling the trigger on having the T-shirts printed (we're still receiving shirt orders -- it's been a popular design!).

If you are reading this update and you missed out on pledging support to HYPERBOREA: Beasts and Cannibals, you can still preorder both modules and the shirt

Here is another art teaser, a fantastic piece by Mr. Peter Mullen. Below this, you can read what's cooking for future projects at North Wind Adventures

So, here's what else we're working on:

Players' Manual -- a 300-page softcover book comprising Volumes I, II, and III of Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea. High-quality paper, smyth-sewn glue binding, durable cover with 4-inch gatefold flaps. Warp-around cover art by Mr. Val Semeiks

Referee's Screen -- a 4-panel, landscape screen with full-bleed art by Mr. Diogo Nogueira on one side, and a collection of useful tables on the other side.

Player Character Folder -- a 9 x 12-inch pocketed folder containing booklet-style player character sheets. The outside of the folder will feature full-bleed wrap-around art by Mr. Del Teigeler.

More information to come soon! These three items will be part of one Kickstarter campaign, in which you will be able to pledge for different combinations. It's going to be very exciting! After that, we will be back with two more exciting AS&SH adventure modules. More resources and content for your AS&SH campaign!

Thank you for your support, gaming fellows.

Cheers,
